Fran Piggott is an entrepreneur and the Managing Director of Marketing Guru (Pty) Ltd based in Durban, South Africa.
As a successful marketing strategist and sales executive, I went on to found four companies of my own. Experience in corporate new business development and as a business owner stretches from 1967 until present, with a break in between for raising my children. For 26 years, I was actively involved in the South African and Kenyan healthcare industry. For the past 7 years, I’ve been coaching or mentoring small business owners to grow their businesses by using proven tools and techniques to increase their sales; as well as ensure that they are surrounded by competent people with appropriate skills in the best interest of their business .
Whilst in South Africa, I worked for Price Forbes (which has become Alexander Forbes) and Northern Medical Administrators (which has become Fedhealth). During my time in Kenya, I carried out a number of feasibility studies for the World Bank, PTA Bank and US AID, as well as for local medical consultants wanting to set up speciality clinics eg cardiac units, paediatric centres, medical centres, etc.
I’ve also spent time training business owners, managers, account executives and sales teams in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania in marketing planning and strategies; selling planning and techniques; and internet marketing development and strategies.
During the past 7 years, I’ve studied Internet Marketing thoroughly – as I strongly believe that internet marketing must be part of a business owner’s marketing arsenal to generate leads and sales. This has been a huge learning curve, taking me on a journey of expansion with help from eminent internet marketing mentors.
Having built my business ‘on the smell of an oil rag’, I’m fully aware of the hurdles and challenges facing new and established business owners … like cashflow, growth, recruiting and managing staff, procrastination, accountability, responsibility … the list is endless!
I now put back as much of my experience to those who want to learn from my success … and also my mistakes!
